World renowned Master Drummer, Okyerema Asante, who is famous for performing all parts of a traditional five-person drum group was there to captivate the gathering with his performances.
The event which was one of the leading gathering of Ghanaians leaving in the States, brought thousands of people together amidst the pomp and pageantry by the traditional leadership of the various associations in the United states.
Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, speaking as the guest of honour said the government was working hard to end the energy crisis which has bedeviled the country recently.
She said that the Ministry has initiated number of projects to develop and market Ghana’s tourism.
She said it was refreshing to see the young people playing different roles in the festival, adding that it was a sign of preserving the country’s rich culture for the younger generation especially in the face of techonological advancement.
The president of the Ghana National Council paid glowing tribute to the Tourism Minister for the support and the delegation she brought to the celebration.
Ghana’s delegation to the festival comprised the actresses, actors, Queen mothers and members of the Creative industry.
GhanaFest has over the years become a great annual event that depicts not only Ghana’s traditional thanksgiving celebrations, and a cultural exposition of great significance that showcases the diverse and rich Ghanaian culture to the American public and the world at-large, but also as a day for reaffirming our national unity and brotherhood.
