The National Cultural Center (Centre for National Culture) is located in Kumasi, the Garden City and capital of Ashanti region of Ghana, near the Okomfo Anokye Hospital, and is indeed one of the top-most tourist sites in the area. The Center is considered as the show piece for Ghanaian culture.
The Center has won many awards and is well-maintained and is a must see by every visitor to Ghana. It is the cultural home of Ghana and the first and foremost Cultural Centre to be established in West Africa if not the whole of Africa.The Center is the seat of the nation's cultural heritage and houses materials and objects of national importance.
The man who is accredited to be the founder and first Director of this great and priceless edifice is the Late Dr. Alexander Atta Yaw Kyerematen began the Centre in 1951.
