He fought passionately for the right of the people of Ghana, tp choose their own governement.
Emmanuel Odarkwei Obetsebi-Lamptey (*1902 – +1963) was a politician in the British colony of the Gold Coast. He was with Kwame Nkruma togheter, one of the founders and leaders of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) also known as "The Big Six".
A roundabout with his memorial, on the Ring Road West in Accra, is named after him.
The Big Six were detained by the colonial authorities in 1948 following disturbances leading to the killing of three World War II veterans. They are pictured on the front of the new and older Ghana cedi notes and at the Big Six Roundabout near "Kotoka International Airport".
