Some review - Ghana and it`s Museum of Science and Technology...
All over the world, museums serve as storage monuments and artifacts that connect people with their past. It forms the basis for understanding preparations for the future. The Museum of Science and Technology, the only kind in Ghana, which is repository of our history has been neglected foe over 30 years.
The Museum of Science and Technology was started in 1974 to serve as a safe haven for some monuments and artifacts of science evolution such as the first train, car, and aeroplane that came to Ghana. After about 34years, the museum is still uncompleted.
A contractor at the site says delays in the release of funds has been a major set back works. Currently, the Museum house some of the oldest scientific monuments in Ghana which are waiting to be transferred into the Museum of Science and Technology after completion.
A tour by GTV crew in the museum revealed decadence. The windows and ceiling need rehabilitation. One had to make do with wooden staircase to climb upstairs. The cracks on the the cemented floor made the building's age very obvious, when it rains, the water drains into the main building through these cracks.
Meanwhile the building has become a home for drug peddlers, social misfits and any other person who wishes to make it their home. Their presence we were told overwhelms security men as they are unable to control them.
The contractor said structures surrounding the building will adversely affect the drainage system of the museum when it is completed.
