Source: GNA - Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has called for the need to unlock Africa’s rural tourism potential for the improvement of the lives of rural folks.
She said the sector had a tedious responsibility to unlock Africa’s rural tourism potential in order to create economic opportunities in deprived communities. The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Art, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has revealed that her ministry is rolling-out a 15-year development plan to transform the sector into a major source of revenue.
“In the face of stiff competition from other countries, there is a need for us to raise our game by transforming the tourism sector in order to rake in the needed foreign exchange. Residents of Kumasi who want a one-time shopping experience will now have the opportunity to do so as Grand Sales 2015 is opened at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The event which was once held five years ago will provide shoppers with a unique Christmas shopping opportunity. Mr Abraham Tetteh, the Tourism Fund Administrator, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has said the tourism fund would help develop the sector and contribute to the country’s attainment of international standards.
After almost two years of closure, the Adomi Bridge situated at Atimpoku in the Eastern region is to be re-opened to vehicular traffic Friday, December 18, 2015.
This follows the completion of extensive rehabilitation works by the Austrian Construction and Engineering firm, Bilfinger MCE GmbH on the 335metre bridge, spanning across the Volta Lake. There was display of rich Ghanaian culture and dance at this year's Ghana Carnival 2015 held at the Black Star Square in Accra.
The celebration started with a float from the Obra spot, Kwame Nkrumah circle through the Ring road to the Osu Oxford street and back to the Black Star square with most participants in carnival costume. |
