Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, is appealing to the government to renovate all forts, castles, and tourist sites in the Central Region. He wants the Akufo-Addo led the government to rehabilitate all forts and castles in the region to promote tourism in Ghana. According to him, the rich history towards the independence of Ghana and the current economic strives made in the country can never be told without the mention of the Central Region, therefore, it’s important that “we persevere our heritage well and pass it on to generations unborn.”
Speaking as a panel member on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ with Lawyer Ohene Gyan on Kingdom FM 107.7, Allotey Jacobs said:” I’m pleading with the government to renovate all tourist sites in the Central Region and also generate revenue for the government.” Background Despite its significance and international character, the Tourist sites are yet to be made fully attractive to be appreciated by visitors to the metropolis. He explained that a good number of tourist sites in the country were not in good shape and were prone to collapse which results in the government losing massive revenue. Many people want to visit them yet they are often pegged back by how far these tourist destinations are and how bad some of the connecting roads are. To solve this long-lasting problem, it is expedient to build ultra-modern hotels, motels, and guesthouses on-site at certain key tourist sites. Source: kingdomfmonline. com |
